ABOUT US

We’re thrilled to introduce the Saint Benedict’s Foundation, formerly 3012 Leaders. This rebranding honors our founder, Benny Bonsu, and her late brother, Benson Mensah-Bonsu, whose legacies in sports and community inspire everything we do.

About Benny Bonsu
Benny Bonsu, Director of Content for the Olympic Channel Service (IOC), has been a trailblazer in sports media since 2000. As the UK’s first female sports editor, Benny broke new ground for women in sports journalism, advocating for gender equality and amplifying diverse voices in sports globally.

Her commitment to community and sports is deeply personal. Since 2000, Benny has worked tirelessly to address gender inequality and support disadvantaged youth globally. Her impact spans continents:

  • United Kingdom: Pioneered gender equality in sports journalism, advocating for increased female representation and coverage.

  • United States: Worked with disadvantaged youth in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, using sports to provide opportunities and support.

  • France and Senegal: Partnered with Dakar Hoops to empower girls through sports and education, fostering community development.

  • Middle East: Contributed to sports growth in the UAE by advising on sports economics for development and sharing valuable knowledge.

In addition to her media career, Benny has been a strong advocate for gender equality and against domestic violence through her roles with UNESCO, Global First Ladies Alliance, and UN Women UK.

Honoring her brother
Benny’s dedication to sports and community is also a tribute to her late brother, Benson Mensah-Bonsu, who passed away from cancer at the age of 34 in 2022. Benson, a former college basketball player and influential sports media leader, shared Benny’s passion for using sports as a force for good. This foundation honors his legacy by continuing their shared mission to empower youth through sports.
